Cold weather accessories that actually look good

If you’re a fashion lover, you’re probably eager to look stylish whatever the weather. When temperatures start to drop, you have to rethink your wardrobe. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t look great just because it’s cold outside. Accessories are the key to looking and feeling fabulous all year-round. Here are some fantastic additions to your cold weather wardrobe to consider this fall/winter.

Sunglasses

I know what you’re thinking. Sunglasses are for summer. This is true, but you never know when a stray sunny day may come along. In the fall, we’re often treated to clear, bright skies even when it’s chilly. A good pair of sunglasses will protect your eyes and make you look incredibly chic. In the cooler months, go for larger styles and darker colour frames. Leave neon shades and novelty glasses for summer festivals and exotic holidays.

Hats

Hats are a great way of keeping warm and adding interest to your outfit. In the fall, felt fedora hats are an excellent addition to smart casual outfits. Team with a pair of skinny jeans, a printed blouse and a faux fur gilet for a chic but cozy option. Alternatively, embrace woolly beanies or caps for a more casual look. Both these styles will look fantastic with relaxed jeans, trainers, and slogan sweaters.

Bags

A girl can never have too many bags. As the cooler weather approaches, you may wish to swap fabric, straw and canvas bags for heavy-duty options. Leather is a fall staple, and it adds a touch of class to any outfit. Go for a bowling bag or an oversized shopper for a lunch date or a trip to the mall. For an evening out, brighten up an LBD with a leopard print clutch. If you’re looking for some inspiration for new additions to your collection, take a look at online sites like BNB.

Jewelry

Many people like to wear jewelry in the summer, but it’s not so popular in the cooler climes. The colder seasons are actually a great time of year to wear sparkly pieces. Jewel tones, such as midnight blue, purple, green and burgundy, work really well in fall and winter. You can make your wardrobe more versatile with accessories. You can also dress up plainer items, such as dark dresses and jumpsuits, with jewelry. Necklaces are a great addition to blouses, jumpers and dresses. Jewelry inspiration is always pretty easy to find too, so it makes for a simple way to spice up a winter outfit.

If you’re looking for an easy way to stay chic all year round, make accessories your best friend. By changing the extras you add to your outfits, you can create stylish looks for any season. Add hats jewelry and bags to bring your fall outfits to life, and make every look unique. Search online for tips or have a look through some glossy fashion magazines.

The ultimate guide to accessorizing

Accessories are a key part of fashion. So much so that they can make or break an outfit. I like my accessories, but sometimes I feel like I can go a little overboard, especially if my outfit should already speak for itself. Between juggling creative mix-n-match and minimalist trends, accessorizing isn't always easy. So, I've come up with this guide to help ensure that your accessories are on point.

Understand Your Accessories

First of all, you need to understand why accessorizing an outfit is worth it. Many fashionistas think of wearing accessories as a creative process that allows them to give life to their personality. Some even consider it an art form. But that isn’t the main reason why you should be accessorizing. They can help you stand out, sure, but they will also help you save money. How is that possible? If you have lots of accessories that you can pair with different outfits, you won’t have to buy as many clothes so often. You’ll be able to keep experimenting with various items to create a myriad of looks. Being able to be this creative with your wardrobe will certainly cut down on all your shopping.

Start Small

If you have never really accessorized before, it can feel quite daunting at the start. However, start small and you can gradually build up to wearing huge pieces of bling! One of the easiest ways to get into accessorizing is to start off with small pieces of jewelry. They don’t have to be too brash; just some simple stud earrings will work. If you don’t own any jewelry yet, you can take a look at online retailers such as elf925 online sterling silver jewelry. Once you feel confident about wearing jewelry, branch out to other accessories. You could start wearing metallic belts with jumper dresses or top off your work outfit with a sophisticated hat.

Glam Up Ill-Fitting Clothing

It can be very annoying to get home with some new clothes, just to find that they don’t fit you! First of all, that’s why you should always try on the clothes in the store! Secondly, there’s no need to worry – accessorizing can help you out! Invest in some expensive shoes and handbags. Then all you need to do is add these to an outfit that is slightly oversized or doesn’t look quite right. Glamorous shoes and handbags will take everyone’s attention away from the slightly below-par outfit. You never know, everyone might think you intended it to look that way! So remember this tip next time you think you’ve wasted money on clothes – chances are you can save the outfit!

Use Accessories To Add Colour

If you always seem to wear black or dark shades, accessories are a very easy way to add a burst of color to your outfit. And you won’t have to go out and buy new clothes as colorful accessories always look better against a dark outfit. You can stick to your dark color tones in your usual work outfit. But how about adding some of your vibrant personality by adding a bright handbag? Belts and scarfs are also fantastic for adding colors. And you don’t have to stop there – how about playing with patterns too? You’ll find that animal print is having a moment at the minute, and there are many scarves, shoes, bags, and belts covered in it! You can always go the opposite way and wear plain accessories with a very colorful outfit. Some bold black belts, jewelry, or a scarf can help to break up a vibrant outfit which would have otherwise looked too much.

Don’t Forget Your Hair

Accessories can go in our hair as well and add some style to our hairdo! If you have ever attended a wedding, then you will know how extreme hair accessories can be. Fascinators are often worn at weddings, but there’s no reason why they have to be restricted to these special days. Just like a hat, you wear them on top of your head. However, they are a lot smaller than hats so will show off more of your hairdo. And the best thing? You won’t get the dreaded hat hair! They are usually very expensive in the shops, but many people choose to make their own at home. If you aren’t feeling too confident about wearing a fascinator, you can keep things simple with some cool hair clips and bobbles.

Basic classics

I've been looking at my closet lately thinking that I have a love-hate relationship with the majority of my wardrobe. I've got coloured jeans, crop tops, military print, wide legged pants, florals, spikes, and other trendy styles that have been deemed popular over the past few years. Now, I love my clothes because I genuinely like them right now, but at the same time, I kind of hate how not all of these items are timeless. And you can give me the "if it makes you happy..." all you want, but let's face it: When some of these items are out, they are really, really tacky and difficult to look at.

That's why I've been obsessing over basics and classic staple pieces lately. Y'know, things that match pretty much everything. Things that will continue being trendy and versatile in years to come. And things that are pretty spiffy on their own too.

Colorblock dress c/o Lovely Wholesale / Black and cream bag from Tacicco

What's the point of buying shorts and cute skirts anymore when I can only wear them 2 days out of the week? With a steady work schedule now, I've been trying to only buy dresses that are work-appropriate. This dress is my new favourite work dress, even though it's a bit too tight at the bust. Which is highly unusual since my dresses are usually drooping down at the chest because of my lack of...area there.

In other news, I was out with the boyfriend the other night and I had a rather interesting interaction with the waitress. She only looked at me to take my order. Every other time, whether it was greeting us, taking our drink order, checking to see how to meal is, and handing us the bill, she never addressed me. So was this some old school thing where she only assured that the guy would get a good experience because he's the one that would be paying? Or is my face seriously that mean and unwelcoming that even a waitress, who is paid to be pleasant, doesn't want to break the ice? Either way, I'm kind of amused by the situation, but it doesn't look good for me.

Mostly minimalist

I've been having fun playing with shapes and structure in apparel lately. Typically, I'm used to defining "structure" as fitted. Boxy loose clothing were not good. But now, I've embraced baggy sweaters, not only for their comfort, but because of how effortlessly good they look with straight-cut bottoms. I'm also really loving how throwing a sweater over a knee-length skirt naturally makes it more casual and wearable for any day. Being in casual office environments where employees tended to wear flip flops in the summer, I always felt overdressed in pencil skirts. I'm glad that my work skirts don't have to collect dust anymore.

I've also found that I prefer structured bags. Unlike unstructured ones, structured bags still look good when they're empty. And especially with a bag that has more than 4 corners, the shape stands out a lot more. Against a minimalist outfit, why go for a pop of colour when you can go for a pop of shape?

Colorblock trapezoid bag

My search for a colorblock bag is finally over. This one from Tacicco hits all my requirements.  It's classic black and white, has a crossbody strap, holds a lot, and is structured as a trapezoid bag.

This patent leather bag features a classic glossy look on one side and a unique texture on the other. The textured side has a bit of sparkle when it catches the right light and also holds a front pocket. There's also a pocket insert that  is removable so you can choose to show off your brand pride, or turn it around to be more discreet.

And as a huge bonus, I've never received better customer service. I emailed sales@tacicco.com asking if the bag would fit a DSLR camera in it. Not only did they reply within 24 hours, but they sent me multiple photos that they took of a camera in the bag. You just don't find personalized service and care like that very often.
