To celebrate the end of the school semester, I did absolutely nothing this weekend. Well okay, I exaggerate. I really just watched Pixar movies and laughed at the jokes and references that I didn't get as a kid. And when I did have to go out, I went with clothes that would feel like pajamas. A dress is like a long pajama top and a sweater is just a short robe. And just to make this extra fancy, using a belt to define proportions really does the trick. As does jewellery. But we knew that already, right.

Winter Stripes
Tis the season to go see friends and family and be merry and such. I like to dress up when I go out, since I spend the greater part of my day in my pajamas if I'm being a coach potato at home. But with cold temperatures, it can be hard to motivate myself to put on a dress. I made an exception though for this striped dress from Surfdome. I've been looking for a white dress for a while, and it's a pretty big deal that this dress isn't see through, which is especially unattractive in the winter when you're sporting tights underneath. Sure, it's a fun summer dress in essence, but under a few layers, it still works for winter. And if I do say so myself, it's still just as cute.

Crops
The season of crop tops is over. Not just because it's finally chillier, but because it's the month of Thanksgiving and Halloween, which means that excessive eating and food babies have begun to pop up. Now that Thanksgiving is over, I'm looking forward to convincing my mom to buy really good Halloween candy so I can eat it all and blame it on frequent trick or treaters. Yep, it's a great month for food.

How to: Dress for Valentine's Day
Well folks, it's that time of the year again. That time where we get to laugh at people who think it's cute to dress like a walking Valentine's Day card. So as my favour to society, I would like to propose a little guide on how you can avoid looking tacky around the day:
1.) Stick to one colour. Please, stop wearing pink shirts with red cardigans and white pants.
2.) Add a little pop. Try colour in small doses...lipstick, a bag, etc. Be like the cherry-filled chocolate: it's mainly another colour with just a gooey touch of red.
3.) Give the hearts a break. Similar to the colour policy, if you're gonna wear hearts, keep it down to one heart accessory. Don't be a Christmas tree of hearts.
4.) Go with a romantic theme. To avoid being blatantly Valentine's-y, include romantic-style attire instead. Y'know, lace, neutrals, sheers, and such.
Alright love birds, I hope you get the the fashion picture, now go prance along in your cheer as I celebrate next Friday with discounted candies. Actually, that'll probably make me prance along in cheerfulness too. Hourray for cheap sweets!

Drop of sunshine
I am not a morning person. Sure, I can take in some caffeine to wake me up, but what am I supposed to take to get rid of my morning "I hate everyone" blues? I hate traffic, I hate crowded buses, I hate icy patches, I hate loud talkers, I hate slow walkers, I hate squeaky chairs, and I hate touching gum under my seat. I want a name tag that says "Hello! My name is IF YOU CAN READ THIS, YOU NEED TO GO AWAY". Well, at least the sun's kinda peeking out from under the clouds. Sunshine makes me hate everything juuuust a bit less.

Polka dot prep
I'd like to declare that the warm weather is here to stay. Sure, there may still be patches of ice around, but I refuse to acknowledge their existence, and I'm optimistic that they won't survive another week. This weather's been kind of crazy where we've pretty much skipped the mildly-chilly temperatures of leather jackets and gone right to light jacket/blazer season. I don't mind too much, because it makes wearing long socks and skirts all the more acceptable. Though it is a little disheartening when I still see people in UGGs and parkas. We're just gonna insist that they're the people that are weather confused, not me.
I noticed a general tend in when I wear my red cardigan. Usually, it has something to do with a variation of a preppy look with either stripes, polka dots, collared shirts, and/or long socks. I'm gonna point to general typical depictions of English prep school looks. That's so much more fun than American public school looks of jeans and hoodies, right?

These dreams started singing to me
This hasn't really been an ideal spring so far. The temperature hasn't been particularly warm, and the days haven't really been sunny. Which is why I wanted to try to take advantage of dress weather. Mind you, I had to warm it up with a cardigan and over-the-knee socks, but it kind of adds a little something extra to the outfit.

Windy in the city
The weather has been crazy lately. Accompanying the double-digit temperatures were insane winds. A straight skirt was definitely a good call. While the hat kept my hair in place (for the most part), the trouble was keeping the hat on my head. I really enjoyed this outfit. It's difficult to explain, but it gave me a certain worldly feeling. I'd say that this outfit was fairly European prep-school inspired.

Double digits are a treat
I absolutely adored the weather today. I didn't think I'd be able to go outside in short sleeves in late November, but today defied the odds. Unfortunately, it's supposed to be a high of -1 tomorrow. What contrast to the 15 degrees we were looking at today. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

Mourning the fall
I had a massive shopping spree last weekend. If I was unsure if I REALLY wanted the item, I bought it anyway so I could return it later, if anything. I think my plan backfired because I ended up wanting to keep everything I bought. When I say backfire, I mean that I want to return things. A buying rampage is nice, but it should only be done in modesty with a student budget.
Have you ever picked your outfit colours based on the weather?
Today was super gloomy, and I almost felt like I should be dressed in darker attire- as though I was mourning the weather. In midst of the rain, I let my fashion do the shining instead.
