Sales nature + Giveaway winner

We all get that happy little feeling from getting a good deal on a purchase.  I take that a step further though where I feel like I've won.  It's like a game- find the biggest sales!  Because of my competitive nature, I've bought quite a bit I don't need just because of the big savings.  Take these shoes, for example.  Do I really need a new pair of sandals?  Absolutely not.  But could I walk away from a pair of shoes that was 93% off from about 100 bucks?  No freaking way.  Do you hear me?  93% off!  Geez, even if I wear them once, I still win.  Big time.

And speaking of great steals, I'm happy to announce the winner of my Shabby Apple giveaway:

Hourrah!

Thanks so much too all who participated. And keep an eye on my blog because I've got more giveaways lined up soon!  Seriously.

How to: Go from day to date

Since you're all social butterflies, I know that you have or will run into the problem of being out around town all day long and not having time to change into something date appropriate (or general fancy dinner appropriate).  So I've come up with this little guide on how to dress for both a day out and a date night all in one outfit.

1.  Dress it up.  Start with what you want to wear to your nice night out.  It's best to go simple here so the piece can be easily combined with something else without looking out of place. I'd suggest a lace dress or a black dress.

2.  Pick your shoes.  What you want here is something versatile.  Forgo the sneakers and grab a pair that will be comfortable for your activities during the day, but are also dressy enough to be worn at night.  Sandals or flats with a pop of colour or metallic finish are my choice here.

3.  Dress it down.  A denim or chambray blouse can go a long way.  Another great option is a plaid shirt.  Whatever you choose, just keep in mind that it needs to be casual.  Even if you're a little mismatched, that's fine- flaunt that effortlessly chic thing that you're gonna have going on.

Once it's time for your evening festivities, just take off your casual blouse and you'll be good to go!

Oatmeal

I have commitment issues.  Especially when it comes to picking favourites.  Especially when it comes to accessories.  I like jewellery because...well, who doesn't.  I like my bag because it's a pretty colour.  And I like my sunglasses because they're so summery.  So instead of choosing which piece was going to be the standout accent to my outfit, I just wore them all.

As of right now, I think I'm most excited about my new sunglasses though.  Yes, they're a great colour and the light gradient is nice, but I'm most excited that they include that little stand that fits onto your nose bridge so the glasses stay in place.  As a flat-face, I cannot count the amount of times I have to push my glasses up as I walk or have them fall as I look down.  It's quite the annoyance.  Now, I can safely run for buses without the embarrassment of having my glasses slip down over my mouth.  Seriously, if this has never happened to you, I don't think you can fully  understand my relief and exuberance.

Office unicorn

As a relatively socially awkward person who hates being the one to initiate conversation and interaction, I have yet to meet most of the people in my new workplace.  The other day, I was told that people talk about me.  Or at least, they whisper about "the Asian in Marketing" or "the new girl".  People know I exist, but very few have actually seen me.  I'm like a legend or a myth.  I'm a freakin' unicorn!

How to: Mix patterns

The little secret to this is that there really aren't any rules about which patterns you can and cannot mix.  You're allowed to have fun with it, and it might end up looking like a fun mess, but that's part of the fun.  The rules come into play with the other items that you're wearing.

The general rule of thumb is that if you're going to go bold in one place, tone it down in others.  Mixing patterns requires a certain organized loudness.  It's okay to be bold, but you don't want too much going on in your ensemble.  Neutral accessories will keep the focus on the patterns of your outfit instead of your accessories.  Adding a natural palette also leaves room for a bit of spunk in your accessories, but for the most part, keep them simple and not too extravagant.

All these great items can be found at Persunmall.  Personally, I'm lusting over their great bag collection.

Checkmate

You want to see the true colours of someone?  The best situation for that is during a boardgame night.  My true colours are vicious, competitive, derisive, and general insanity.  Playing boardgames with me is not for the faint of heart.  Not everyone can handle me screaming at them, especially when it comes to team games..."Look at me. I am throwing the answer to you mentally. Feel it! ... WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME, STOP CHEATING!"
