Camera phone shy

Embellished collar blouse c/o Lovely Wholesale / Polka dot skirt from Forever 21

I think I missed the memo on how to be a girl on technology. In the past 3 years, I think I've taken 10 selfies and 5 pictures of food. I absolutely hate using my phone to take pictures, so I'm not a fan of instagram, and I have very few photos of my day-to-day life.

My reasoning is that I spent good money on a DSLR, so all of my pictures should be taken with it to ensure top quality. But when I do take my camera to restaurants, I feel odd because it's so out of place using an actual camera to take food pics. And have you ever tried taking a selfie with a DSLR? It's a bit of an arm workout. So I'm too awkward to use an actual camera, but too much of misplaced rebel to use a camera phone.

Anyway, here are some non-selfies of me, and pictures of my food that I quickly snapped in an empty restaurant before the waitress approached my table. Anyone have any tips on getting over this camera fear?

Timekeeper

Dark wood watch c/o JORD / Blush blazer from Forever 21 / Denim boyfriend jeans from Target / Wooden sunglasses from Woodzee

I used to wear a watch all the time before the cell phones were a thing. Yes, remember that time? When you would actually have to wear a watch to tell the time, when you had to bring a camera if you wanted to take pictures, when you had to borrow a friend's phone (yeah, I'm not quite the payphone generation), etc.

I see people with their typical Michael Kors watches, but that hasn't even phased me to want a watch. We all have phones so we know you're not using it for function. It's not even that trendy because everyone has one of the same oversized gold style. But this wooden watch from JORD has definitely caught my attention.

I've already raved about my love for my wood sunglasses and now I have a new accessory to match. What I really love about this watch is that it mixes a classic wooden texture with a modern finish. The dark wood makes this watch a little dressier, but still a very eye-catching piece. The silver touches on the face finish off the watch's contemporary appeal.

JORD also offers men's watches, which I think are especially awesome. Wood and exposed gears? Now that's a statement watch. As my boyfriend described it, it's like "a Batman watch" - dark and intricate. Like I said, these are watches to really get excited about!
