Slouchy

We need more of the effortlessly chic trend. Or as I like to call it, the "I literally just rolled out of bed and threw on something relatively clean" trend. Somehow, the loose fitting fabrics and mundane colours remind me of sweats. I do think that this is all as comfy as sweats, except that I still have to cross my legs when I sit.

I'm really liking how the little touch of gold in my necklace makes me look a little less like a bum. In fact, it's quite a sophisticated necklace with shiny gold and a gorgeous design from oNecklace. Though I might be slightly bias because it's a monogram necklace of my initials.

Paper bags and plastic hearts

I'm a bit on the fence about these shorts. Let's just forget about the cute waistband and tie for a moment. When I'm standing up, they seem like they could be work appropriate with a blazer. But when I'm sitting down...well, they're just a tad on the short side. During times where I'm already at work before I notice that I'm showing a bit too much leg, I'll avoid leaving my desk at all costs. Being at a corner desk, I can easily hide. But this means not getting up for lunch, strategically dehydrating myself so I don't have to use the washroom, and ending the day with the chair equivalent of bed sores.

Multi stripes

I don't own many plain and simple t-shirts. And if I do, they're from a few years ago when the whole super fitted thing was in style. If you didn't know, 'fitted' isn't exactly comfortable. Other fitting terms for "fitted" might include: constraining, restricting, cutting off your air flow. So after I put on this t-shirt, I don't know how I'm gonna go back. It flatters my figure but flows away from my body. I actually have space to breathe! And it has a silky front, which gets even more bonus points for comfort.

You know what else I need more of? Matte jewellery. The gold in the necklace is standard gold (is there such thing as matte gold?) but the black is matte, which is a nice change from the usual glossy textures that I own.

Cliphair extensions giveaway

Who's in the mood for some new hair?  You could win any hair extensions of your choice!

I did a blog post about my new hair extensions a little while ago, and now the folks at Cliphair are back with a really great offer. Want longer hair? Going for a more voluminous look? Feel like experimenting with bangs? Or a sleek ponytail? Yup, they've got it all. The best part of this is that it's so easy to experiment with extensions. Because of their use of Remy human hair, extensions can be dyed, cut, curled, and straightened.

Giveaway is open internationally. Open until August 30 at 11:59 pm EST. Simply follow the Rafflecopter below to enter. Good luck!

Green and cream

For a lazy weekend, this is both the best and worst outfit. The good news is that the green blouse is incredibly soft and flows away from my body so I can eat as much as I want. Seriously, I'd wear it every day...except that it has a bad case of leftover lint from the cardigan. Which brings me to the bad news: the cardigan is made out of some terribly itchy wool. It's kind of a stupid and confusing piece of clothing. The 3/4 sleeves make it impractically chilly for winter, the wool makes it too hot for the summer, so it's only good for this small window where there are warm days and cool nights. And in Canada, that window lasts for about 2 weeks only.

Dark florals

So it's my birthday tomorrow (or today, or it's already passed, depending on when you're reading this). I'm not a fan of being fussed over on birthdays. I just don't really see the big deal at this age. Essentially, it's about congratulating me on managing to successfully inhale and exhale for another year. Yeah thanks, but I think I'll make it. As kids, we're taught that it's not about gifts, but I freaking love getting free stuff on my birthday. Last month, I signed up for about half a dozen newsletters that send you free food/drinks as a birthday gift. I now have about half a dozen food items that I'll be shamelessly collecting next week.

I also received an early gift to myself, from myself. Floral shorts! I've been waiting a good pair for a long time, but I haven't been able to find a pattern that I really loved at a good price until now. I like how the touches of black make make the floral pattern more edgy. That's the problem with most patterns- too much summerific joy going on. As you can see, I'm a ball of sunshine and totally appreciate cheerful patterns.

Photos: Montreal

Took a break from being fashiony to go to Montreal. I don't usually do the whole self-loathing thing, but it's a city where I no longer feel like I stand out because everyone is just so darn trendy and gorgeous.

By the lake

Had a little date day by taking a long walk by the lake. For you hopeless romantics, it's not as cute as it sounds. We're broke so this was something free to do. And it was a long walk because it took 2.5 hours to get from one bus station to the next one. That wouldn't have been my choice otherwise...I would've given up long before that. Especially because a stupid vampire mosquito bit me in the middle of my neck, so I was dying for some anti-itch cream.
