Thunder

As intimidating and menacing as I am, I'm a total wimp when it comes to thunder and lightning.  And we've been getting a lot of it lately.  So I've been spending a significant amount of time curled up in a ball hiding under the covers.  You know who else hides because they're afraid of thunder?  Puppies.  So I'm just gonna draw the lines here.  I'm not a chicken.  Or a scaredy cat.  I'm an adorable little puppy hiding from some big noise.  Adopt this way of thinking.  Everything's better when you think of yourself as a puppy.

Little annoyances

I've discovered some items in my closet that are impossible to wear if you live alone.  Exhibit A: Bracelets with clasps.  If I'm trying to wear the bracelet on one arm, that only leaves one hand to try to manoeuvre a clasp and put it on the right link on the chain.  Not to mention that the links are super tiny, which makes it even more of a challenge.

Then there are some items that are just plain impossible.  Let's turn our attention now to Exhibit B: The faux collar.  Suddenly, it has given me something new to be (self-) conscious about- my fat neck.  Yeah, my faux collar is too small for my neck, so it rises up and won't stay put near any shirt's neckline.  So if faux collars are gonna stay a thing, could we please adopt the system of neck sizing?

How to: Style a plain white shirt

With all the ever-changing trends and such, I think we often forget how practical and versatile plain white shirts are.  Think of them as a blank canvas.  White tops can styled any way you choose with the right accessories (aka. the paint to your canvas).  To show you, I used a plain white tank top and black shorts from eFoxcity as the base.

Sweet brights (left): Nothing screams summer like bright colours and feminine touches.  Mixing bold colours with a white shirt is a great way to make those colours really pop.  And since you want those colours to be the focus, accessories should stay minimal and more subtle.  Even though the weather's hot, it doesn't mean you can't wear layers.

Edgy neutrals (right):  Give this classic colour palette a twist by pairing the white top with some edgy accessories.  Since the palette is neutral here, accessories are the main attraction.  Have some fun with patterns too.  It's a great way to add some fun to a simple and classy monotone look.  Great for a day out or a night on the town.

Unnatural

It's a beautiful day!  Which meant that I thought it'd be best to do a nice little walk around to experience nature in its glory.  Until I was reminded that Nature and I don't get along.  It was one of those days where my allergies decided to act up so I was practically crying during my walk, it started raining the second I stepped out of the apartment, and the decomposition process of garbage was making the outdoors smell fantastic.  And to top it off, a bug flew up my nose.  You know what?  I'm nice to Nature.  I recycle and don't burn ants with magnifying glasses.  It's not that Nature and I don't get along...it's Nature that has a bullying issue.

Summer enemy

Okay, so it might not be officially summer quite yet, but the enemy is already starting to appear. Spiders.

I was on full alert today as an enemy wave entered through an unsecured window, into my bedroom. Their first wave of soldiers were young, small, and quite easy to destroy.  But the Big Boss went into hiding.  I tried calling for backup, but I was alone.  I, then, went into hiding too, waiting for him to emerge.  He eventually came out into reach and I sprang into action.  As I zoned in for the kill, he made a swift dash across the window.  He was silent (I'd be more alarmed if spiders weren't), but I let out a little scream right before I let my hand charge at the window.  And so, the enemy was squished and conquered.

Gosh, I have way too much time on my hands...

Packrat

I have trouble letting go of things.  Especially for clothes.  My packrat reasoning is that I might have some kind of occasion to wear things in the future.  But that reasoning also covers items that I should really be getting rid of.  Like this skirt.  It's sized wrong (and 4 sizes too big) with an uneven hem.  But I haven't gotten rid of it yet because I keep telling myself I'll wear it one day, even though I've only worn it once in the past two years.  So now that I have photographic evidence that I've worn it again for the blog, I think I can finally get rid of it.  On the other hand, I haven't worn this top since high school, but I think I might have found a new interest in it that makes me want to keep it.

Lucky layers

I was having a hard time deciding what to wear this morning and kept on changing shirts.  Then I glanced at the clock and realized that I was late.  So instead of properly deciding what to wear in a hurry, I threw on both shirts that I was deciding between.  Luckily for me, it worked out pretty well because I ended up accidentally creating a layered look.  But normally, I wouldn't recommend wearing two shirts out in public without consulting with a mirror.

A flower in a field of weeds

Some people see the glass half empty. Some people see the glass half full. Likewise, some people will note that I'm sitting in a field of weeds. Personally, I'd prefer to say that I'm in a field of little sunshines.  Where would we be if we looked to perfect logic all the time?  Luck is just a matter of probability, thunder isn't the gods bowling, and Pluto isn't a planet?  Sometimes, it's just better to live in your own little world of seeing things with optimism and a bit of imagination in faith.

And again, thanks to JACOB for the lovely shirt. With a peter pan collar and slight pleating, it's definitely my new favourite addition to my closet!

Wedding sage

Tis the season of spring engagements, summer weddings, and all that romantic crap.  If I was to have a wedding tomorrow (or sometime this month- tomorrow is a bit unrealistic), I'd want my colour scheme to be sage green, grey, and champagne.  Right now, I'm more interested in wedding details than anything else.  Floral arrangements, dresses, cakes, and such.  Creating a whimsical party where everything gets to look like green tea and vanilla frosting?  That's definitely what I'm looking forward to.  Well, aside from getting some permanent diamond finger bling.  I guess that's kinda cool too.
