Shoe accessories

In case you wanted your heels to be easily transformed from date to night, Shoellery is here for the rescue. Yes. Removable shoe bling. There's a thin line between creative, practical, and tacky here. Whatever it is, I can't seem to stop laughing at its name. Shoellery. Shoe jewellery. Seriously, it just flows so well together!

Frenemy

I'm terrified of spiders, but I might have found a little trick that has helped me to cope better. There's this one spider that I see everyday chilling on my window. He's always there, so I don't have to worry about finding him in my bed (that crap is scary!). I decided to name him Herman. Naming him seems to ease my fears because...well, what kind of harm could something with a cute name like Herman do. Except that I've lost Herman and instead, I've been seeing multiple tiny spiders on my window. So I think Herman is actually a 'she' and I have baby spiders in my room. Send help. And fire. Now.

Review: Hair extensions

I was bored last week and decided to cut two inches off my hair. It doesn't look like I got attacked by a lawn mower, but doing a DIY haircut really isn't the same as going to a professional.  Thankfully, I got some hair extensions that give me back the layers and length that I hacked away.

I'm using Cliphair's Double Weft extensions in darkest brown. After choosing the colour and length you want, each pack comes with extensions of multiple widths that are made with genuine human hair that can be cut, curled/straightened, and dyed. The extensions clip easily underneath the back of your hair for added length and volume.

Before

After

There's a noticeable difference in the length of my hair, but I'm more excited about how much extra hair and volume I get with the extensions. As someone with super thin hair (and not a lot of it), it's pretty great having enough hair to fall over my shoulders and onto my back at the same time. The extensions matched my hair colour perfectly, even giving me a bit of a highlight, and was soft and lightweight. Also, it's a bit weird getting used to extensions, but in a good way. Running my fingers through my hair, I was left wondering which bits were my own hair and which bits were the extensions.  It's definitely a good sign when even I have trouble telling them apart.

Lace overlay

I've wanted a collar necklace for at least two years now.  The nice ones that I've seen are usually fairly extravagant with studding, pearls, or a design of some kind.  Somehow, that brings up the price of these necklaces dramatically.  I can't justify paying over 20 bucks for a piece of costume jewellery, especially one that has a good likelihood of just being a passing fad.  Finally, I was able to find one from eFoxcity for under 10 bucks.

I think that the necklace looks like it was made for this top.  And I would definitely wear the two together more often, but the top has buttons at the back of the neck.  That means I can only wear this top when someone else is helping me do up the buttons.  I might just start telling people that I'm sporting the new "trend" of unbuttoned clothes. "Uh, yeah...the top's supposed to be worn like that. I definitely did not miss the buttons at the back of my top...."

Summer wine

I don't know about where you are, but this season has been plentiful of rain.  Wedges have become my "summer rain boots".  For me, it's not a big deal if the top of my feet get wet.  But I absolutely hate when I'm standing in a puddle that soaks my foot.  Cork wedges are definitely coming in handy to keep me above those water hazards.

In other news, I really like this long vest. When it's windy, it's like wearing a cape.  I may or may not pretend that I'm a superhero whose Kryptonite is muddy puddles.

Modern retro

I'm fairly excited about this blouse because it's the first chiffon top that I own that doesn't require a tank top underneath.  I'm assuming that the dark colour plus the checkers makes it less see-through.  But for all I know, it's still see-through and that I've been walking around with an inappropriate top to work.  Anyway, I wanted to recreate the outfit in the post I did about pattern mixing, but I don't own any patterned shorts.  Excuse to go shopping?  Yes. Also, my zipper bracelet is pretty cool, but the fact that it's not actually a functioning zipper makes it a bit less cool.  Yeah, I don't know why I was expecting it to be a real zipper.
