Modern 90's

Long wool coat / Navy striped shirt from Gap / Floral dress from Sheinside / Tall boots from Le Chateau

90's nostalgia is a weird concept to me. I don't know about you, but I was a 90s kid. And as an 8 year old, I really didn't give a hoot about what was in style during that decade. It was just a few years ago, and still now, that I'm discovering shows from the 90's. And in the same way, I'm just starting to discover fashions that were popular in the 90s. I'm not re-discovering them, nor do they make me feel nostalgic. Instead of going full 90's today, I grabbed one item from the past and mixed it with a more modern look. Complete with boxy shoulder pads, this jacket has been hanging around at home for a while. I thought that it looked drab and unfitted (like a lot of items from the 90s), but paired with a straight dress and a belted t-shirt, it adds a more fitted silhouette to the look. So I guess if we're pulling out a fashion dictionary, this would fall under "90s-inspired". But to me, I call it "too cheap to buy a new coat so I found an old one that I wouldn't normally wear and made it prettier".

Cool summer

Blue sweater from Smart Set / Vero Moda striped dress from Surfdome / Platform shoes from Ami Clubwear

Technically it's not summer yet, but by now, it should feel a lot warmer than it has been. Instead of spending time frolicking outdoors with ice cream, I spent my long weekend curled up under a blanket watching Netflix. And the days that I did go out, it rained on my parade. Literally. Well, it rained...I didn't have a parade. So while I optimistically wore a dress, the reality was that I need to cozy up by plopping a sweater over myself. It's relaxed, it's lazy, but it still works.

Multi stripes

I don't own many plain and simple t-shirts. And if I do, they're from a few years ago when the whole super fitted thing was in style. If you didn't know, 'fitted' isn't exactly comfortable. Other fitting terms for "fitted" might include: constraining, restricting, cutting off your air flow. So after I put on this t-shirt, I don't know how I'm gonna go back. It flatters my figure but flows away from my body. I actually have space to breathe! And it has a silky front, which gets even more bonus points for comfort.

You know what else I need more of? Matte jewellery. The gold in the necklace is standard gold (is there such thing as matte gold?) but the black is matte, which is a nice change from the usual glossy textures that I own.
