Sidewalks

Ribbed crop top from Forever 21 / Skirt from Suzy Shier / Triangle necklace c/o Lovely Wholesale

You know in those old movies that depict the future with hover cars and people running around in the same monotone outfits? I think we're getting close to that point.

Here we are exclaiming about how modern and sleek the black, white, and grey trend is. But decades from now, people will be studying the 2010's and describing us as a culture that got sucked into the colourless life of conformity.

I exaggerate, but I can't help but to think how I'll feel about the monochrome palette in a few years. Right now, I'm loving how versatile my closet is full of shades of black and white. But all this is probably going to seem really boring in a few years. It's summer, why aren't I decked out in vibrant colours?

Also, please note that I didn't name this post "50 shades of grey". That's a pet peeve of mine. Hey bloggers, titling your post that really isn't that clever when 50 other bloggers (and an author) have done it.

...Maybe a lack of colour makes me cranky.

  1. You look so cute! It's such a 90's look. I think we'll probaby still call it chic when we dress in neutrals in 20 years time. ;)

  4. I love how you're showing a bit of skin! Definitely a very classy look. It's so funny to think about how people will study our generation in history books, and there'll be things like "vintage Uggs" and liking Taylor Swift will be hipster. I feel like monochrome just may be timeless though!

  6. For some reason this summer I am wearing more basic colors as well ( a lot of black actually), even though summer used to be colors galore for me!
I really like the outfit you are wearing, how simple and clean lined it is! And I really like that triangle shape necklace!

  18. Haha oh my gosh, I love that you mentioned about not titling this 50 shades of grey - if you scroll back a few posts on my blog, you'll find I tried my absolute best to say in the title about my grey nails and how they were taken in the shade.. WITHOUT mentioning the book/film! Anyway, I love this crop top on you, your body look insane!! :)

  20. What a sleek, modern look! Your tartan skirt is gorgeous. And yes, you put it so well! Monochrome is definitely a big trend in the fashion world right now, and decades from now, everyone is going to associate these neutral outfits with the 2010s. It's definitely a little weird to think about! I myself love some black and white outfits, but in the summer/spring I like to branch out and do some color for once ;)

Speaking of "Fifty Shades"... at a previous internship, I was always forced to use the phrase "fifty shades of _____" anytime our articles had to do with the color gray. I'll just say it got very tiring after a while!

  25. My closet has taken a turn for neutrals too. It's hard for me to wear color nowadays, and I do wonder too what people will think tens or even hundreds of years of our fashion trends right now, but I too will enjoy them while I can right now :) You look amazing in this neutral outfit!
