Why being a fashion blogger in the winter sucks

Grey jacket c/o Lovely Wholesale / Geo print sweater c/o Lovely Wholesale / Red plaid scarf from Forever 21 / Blue beanie from Aldo

Being a fashion blogger in Canada during the winter is horrible. I don't care what other people pretend to say, it's horrible.

If you don't live in a condo with a fancy lobby or have a whimsical-looking room, you're forced to go outside to keep up with the content while saying crap like, "It's only -10 degrees outside...that's doable!" If you look really closely, you can see my hand starting to turn blue. But I didn't get frostbite while taking these photos, so it was a good day.

On an average day with the windchill, it feels like -20. So no, I don't prance around in skirts with my jacket open. But when I spend most of my days cycling through sweaters and warm pants, I sort of look forward to these where I can dress up a bit, even for 10 minutes.

  4. I can't even imagine what I would shoot if it were super cold here in the winter! I mean, you can only own so many coats right? Speaking of which, yours is super cute! This is a gorgeous cold-weather look!

  15. Oh I totally relate - I'm in Washington, DC (not Canada) but winters here are pretty bad too! It's times like this I think Californian fashion bloggers have it made!
That said, you did a pretty fantastic job dressing for a cold day - you look so chic and the plaid scarf is very on-trend! Practical and cute!

  16. There has been a distinct lack of outfit posting on my blog for this very reason. I cannot bring myself to consider outfit posting when there is a consistent feel of -10 - 20 outside. Worst. Now if I had a brightly lit home studio... or, as you say, a whimsical room! perhaps things would be different.

  17. Ahh, I just couldn't agree with you more, being a fashion blogger in a place where winter actually is winter ( in minuses), because a lot of people in the warmer areas are complaining about the weather beeing cold when it is + 10 & +15!
Anyways, you look very stylish, I love how you played with prints and patterns, everything looks so good together! :)

  23. You are a CHAMP. Seriously. I had to shoot in 20-degree weather the other week and I thought I would die- meanwhile, you're up north totally in negative temps rocking out. Go, girl!

  25. Haha girl I feel ya! When we have those weird winter pockets of warmth, I run outside and take like 5 outfit pictures to stock up. You have to do what you have to do to survive ;) Also, I'm still guilty of wearing skirts and dresses during winter. I hate pants so fleece lined tights have been my godsend.

  26. I always wanted to have winter here in the Philippines. Hahaha! But not as cold as -10 or -20. Well, i just want to experience snow. LOL. By the way, you look amazing even if you're cold during the photos are taken. Love your outfit!

  28. I love this look! The jacket and skirt are amazing! I agree with you on the whole winter and fashion blogger business though, it would be hard to go out for pictures when it is so cold.

  29. I completely agree! And then you see other people's ootd posts and they're wearing sandals, and skirts without the foot of snow and -20degree weather.

    Great look!
